A World War II veteran’s widow now has the dog tags her husband lost.

Catherine Wallace’s husband, James, fought in the D-Day battle at Normandy, but he lost his army ID in the sands of the French beach.

The veteran passed away in 1997

Officials reached out to Catherine to tell her someone had found her late husband’s tags.

“It was most wonderful thing that has happened to me,” said Catherine.

Family members said it’s a miracle that the man who found the military ID didn’t keep them, but they’re grateful.
